Die, Slime!!

After being asked several times by M12, I finally tried out the MMORPG Fiesta Online today. It’s been quite a while since I played RO, so the only other game of it’s type I can really compare it to is FlyFF (Fly for Fun). Here are my thoughts:

The graphics for the game are nice and cute, and the characters aren’t as short as in FlyFF. On the other hand, when creating characters, there are very few choices (1 face, 3 hairstyles, 3 hair colours). On the log-in screen I later spotted a “50% off character customization!” ad = FAIL! Looks like this game could be an even greater cash cow than FlyFF. It kind of annoys me that everyone has to look this much alike in the game – I seriously hope you’ll get a chance of changing these things at some point without having to pay for it.

The town is pretty easy to find your way around, and when the different graphic options are turned down a notch I don’t experience a lot of lag. I generally liked the world design in Flyff better though, and the controls too – having to click the mouse to change your point of view all the time is a little annoying. But maybe it’s just because I’m more used to the Flyff controls. (At least you can use the keyboard for moving around, a feature which was missing in Mabinogi in the few minutes I tried it).

Hmm looks like you can get some kind of flying-like transportation in Fiesta like you could in FlyFF (although I don’t think you can ‘fly’ as high?), so they are pretty even there.

Plusses for Fiesta:
I saw someone riding around on some tiger-like creature in town. It… was… so…. CUTE! I want one!!! <3
Also, I really like the HP and SP stone feature. It’s practical. The “house” thing is fun too – in Flyff you would just be sitting down. The outcome is the same though.

All in all Fiesta still wins, since I was getting really tired of FlyFF lately… but I guess it’s just a matter of time :P I don’t hate it as much as it sounds like.

I was also supposed to update AO today. I still hope I can make it in time, but this page is a pain to finish <_<

#¤!@(/&!

Arrrgh I hate CSS @_@ It’s so confusing! It was so much simpler back in the days when I just had to write some simple HTML code! (almost)

I have been wasting most of the day trying to fix some things I wanted changed on my website, after updating the comic. In the end I finally managed to set up a horizontal menu in the top like I wanted to – it looks like crap, but at least it’s there now :P
Now I just need to figure out the other couple of things I wanted.

If I was just to use the page for my gallery, it would be fine the way it is now. But I want to make it easier for people to read my comic there.

In the end I should probably just have used Comicpress or something for that.

I wonder if it would be best to some day get a seperate domain name for Angelic Orbs? Looks like most webcomics benefit from having their own page like that.

Ah, it’s all so confusing…. I think I’ll try and watch Aria now instead.

Layout changes….

At the moment I am working on re-doing the entire layout for my gallery site. Because of that you will end up at an uncomplete site if you go to www.vatinasportal.dk – though you will be able to see how the new page will look.
The gallery still works like normal through the old link (www.vatinasportal.dk/Gallery) so just go there.

For those looking for the danish forum that was originally placed at the first link – sorry, but it has been moved here: www.vatinasportal.dk/forum. A redirection link will be put up on the gallery page as usual soon.

Hopefully I will be done with this on monday, since I plan to begin AO again there….

Edit: And now I managed to make a critical error that made my entire domain in-accessible :P Go me! Well, a time had to come for me to test out my hoster’s support, right?…. let’s just hope it works before monday comes around ;)

Ao Winter break

Merry christmas! :)

I am sorry to not have informed you of this sooner – you may have noticed that I am almost two weeks behind with updating AO. This is because I have decided to take a break from updating the comic until next year. This is a break I need to be able to focus more on improving my skills, and catch up with other things. In January I will begin updating again.

For now I have re-uploaded page 17 with shades instead of lineart. Looks like I will keep updating with shades, since most people seem to want it that way :)

AO 2 page 17 and 18 (b/w)

Pages 17 and 18 are up.

I need your oppinion! As you may have noticed, these two new pages are both b/w lineart only. I have been considering this for a while, and even though changing styles in the middle of everything is a little weird, I still did it in the end.

Now, what would you prefer?

1) I keep updating as usual with shaded pages, like page 16 is, with the danger of me missing some updates. So far I have been able to keep up pretty well, but it gives me less time to actually draw future pages…..

or

2) I update with these b/w pages, and sometimes I will return and re-upload old pages to new shaded versions (without stalling the actual updating schedule of course). This way consistent updates will be easier, and I may also update with more than one page a time as well.

Now, please don’t reply with “whatever you want/think is best”, because I want to know what you prefer :P

AO 2 page 16

Page 16 is now up.

Yay for lame bg shading ^^;
Keeping motivated about getting pages ready for each update can be hard sometimes… Compared to when I was working on my contest entry, I had a set goal back then and got a lot of work done in a short time. Without that, I tend to slack off way too much <_<;; And I haven’t really been able to set another goal that matters.
But I’m still keeping up wiht my updating schedule, so I guess it’s not a problem :) (yet).

AO 2 page 15

Page 15 is now up. This is sort of new, so even if you read the old part 2, you can start reading the new one now…. ;)

AO 2 page 14

Another page is up, this time page 14.
The battle is playing out a little differently this time. Knocking out a big beast like that with a tiny punch just isn’t very believable <_<
And Tia still looks like an alien… must be those eyes.

AO 2 page 13

Page 13 of part 2 is up.

So, I have just begun begun making layout sketches for part 3, and will also start drawing the actual pages soon. Hopefully I will do this a little faster this time, so I won’t have 6 months or more inactivity on the comic like after part 1 <_<

Apart from that, work is also being steadily done on the AO game :3 I’m a bit stuck with the writing on the last path now, though…. I hope to get past it soon. Almost all sprite sets are fully coloured now, too. You can see a small sample here.
(If you’re wondering what ‘game’ I’m talking about, I’m still planning on doing a proper blog post about that soon…. ^^; )

AO 2 page 11

The AO comic has been updated with page 11 of part 2.

I am now going to add a blog post like this one for every new page, and in this way enable readers to comment on the pages directly :) Let’s see how that goes.
I wish there would be something more interesting to write here…. but alas, nothing comes to mind. I think that soon I will post about my other Angelic Orbs project here and tell more about it. It’s hard not to, actually.
